Bangkok’s Thai Airways Launches Sustainable 2025 Menus
Thai Airways' elevated in-flight dining: A luxurious preview of the new menu’s exquisite Thai cuisine.

Thai Airways has unveiled a revamped in-flight dining experience emphasizing authentic Thai cuisine, sustainable practices, and support for local communities. New menus, launching in 2025, will offer passengers a taste of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage while promoting responsible sourcing and showcasing the country’s gastronomic prowess.

From Royal First Class to economy, passengers can expect a significant upgrade. Royal First Class passengers can pre-order the “Tom Yum Kung Lobster Set,” featuring succulent lobster in a flavorful tom yum broth, accompanied by premium Thai jasmine rice sourced from the Chaipattana Foundation’s “Chan Ga Pak” project. This luxurious meal also includes a crab meat omelet, braised Kurobuta pork belly, stir-fried Hong Kong kale, and traditional Thai accompaniments.

Business class passengers can indulge in the “Caviar Experience,” featuring 30g of Giaveri Beluga Siberian caviar and 10g of Giaveri Siberian Classic caviar, sustainably farmed in Italy. This offering is paired with meticulously crafted first courses, including tuna tartare, avocado tartare, jumbo crab tian with spicy truffle dressing, grilled Hokkaido poached tiger prawn with green apple, and a sophisticated rendition of the northeastern Thai salad laab, incorporating foie gras.

Thai Airways is also reimagining in-flight snacking. “Look Jub TG,” a colorful mung bean paste dessert crafted in collaboration with Silpin, offers a playful take on traditional Thai sweets. Passengers traveling to and from Japan, Korea, Beijing, and Shanghai will enjoy signature rice crackers in four distinct flavors: Garlic & Pepper, Parmesan Cheese, Wasabi, and Sauerkraut. These crackers showcase the unique qualities of Thai organic rice. Premium KanVela chocolate, a Thai-grown cocoa product awarded the 2021 International Rising Star Award from the Academy of Chocolate, England, provides a sweet finale.

Beyond luxurious ingredients, the airline has partnered with renowned culinary figures. Chef Bo Songvisava, Asia’s Best Female Chef 2013 and owner of Bangkok’s Bo.lan restaurant, curated the “Taste of Thai Tales” menu. This collection reimagines classic dishes like northeastern sour sausage, grilled pork balls, and satay pork, presenting them in a more accessible format without sacrificing authenticity. Chef Bo, featured in Netflix’s “Chef’s Table,” is known for her commitment to sustainable practices and preserving Thailand’s culinary heritage, values reflected in this new menu.

The “Streets to Sky” menu, developed in partnership with Dusit Thani Catering and renowned local eateries, brings beloved street food classics to the skies. Dishes like stir-fried chicken with basil and fried egg, and Massaman chicken curry are expertly prepared. Regional specialties like khao soi (northern Thai egg noodles in curry soup) and koy see mee (crispy egg noodles in chicken gravy) are also featured. Passengers on shorter flights to China, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Japan can enjoy premium butter buns from After You bakery.

The beverage selection has also been enhanced. Celebrating the launch of its new Bangkok-Brussels route, Thai Airways introduces the “A Rose of the Royal Voyage” cocktail, a spritzer inspired by a royal love story. Coffee lovers can savor the “Black Silk Blend,” a refined Arabica coffee from the Doi Tung Royal Project in Chiang Rai. Refreshing options include Thai iced tea with grass jelly, butterfly pea limeade, and tamarind tea.

Underscoring its commitment to sustainability, Thai Airways' “Good Taste for a Good Cause” campaign utilizes recyclable materials for amenities, including Jim Thompson silk amenity kit bags featuring 12 unique Thai-inspired patterns. The airline also engages in sustainable procurement, purchasing premium agricultural products from local farmers at above-market prices to foster long-term economic growth within communities.

Through these comprehensive culinary initiatives, Thai Airways aims to offer a unique and memorable in-flight experience, showcasing the best of Thai cuisine while promoting sustainability and supporting local businesses. The airline is not just transporting passengers; it’s offering them a culinary journey through the heart of Thailand.
